I would guess that many of us have heard the term Big Data thrown around for the past year or so. The amount of data being collected and stored today is mindbogglingly enormous. It helped Nate Silver predict the election and it's starting to play a role in city government. While Big Data refers to this new, semi-automatic accumulation of information and its analysis, it has also renewed interest in the entire field of Business Intelligence.
How it all started
Well, we've been collecting data for a while - routine customer/order data, information about our presses, etc. Our established systems let us look at some data here, analyze some there, but we wanted to do more. Recently Ryan (our VP of Technology) decided it would be good to change that and got together with Steve to make it happen. The idea was to create a command and control like app so that we could see what was going on at any given moment in the shop, gain insights into our accounts, highlight inefficiencies and so forth. We started getting more and more excited as the project went on and once we had a prototype working a light bulb went on: why not allow our customers to see their data as well?
Vision will let you easily see your order history, the status of your current jobs, and any inventory that we might be managing for you. You'll also be able to download this data as a spreadsheet. Additionally it will allow you to pull and ship a specific quantity of inventory, request a re-quote, or request a new quote. We've had a couple clients be our guinea pigs for the past few weeks, but now we're ready to allow any of our clients access that want it, free of charge.
While we think we are bug free at the moment, we are proud to say that Vision is incomplete. We've got some additional features in mind that we want to add, but we want this to be a collaborative effort with you. Often, technology unfortunately gets in the way of productivity; we want this tool to be useful to you. If you think of a better way to do something we're doing, or have a new feature in mind you'd like to see, we are all ears.
If you'd like access simply contact your sales rep, email email@example.com, or call 765-289-8600. We'll set you up with an initial user account, and you'll be able to manage any additional users from your organization.
